Fat Injection

Recent improvements in technique of fat injection have been critical to improving long term survival of fat cells after transfer. Patients see long lasting results when the majority of fat cells survive the transfer process and live long term in the new area. Techniques that maximize cell survival should:

  • Use special cannulas designed specifically to transfer fat to different body areas
  • Inject only a small amount of processed fat on each pass of the cannula
  • Inject the transferred fat into the a layer of tissue that will promote long term survival

Modern techniques of fat injection have resulted cell survival of 50-70%. Adding PRP is estimated obtain survivals of 90-95% of transferred fat cells.
